Description

Don't get too excited (as if :( ), I'm not back, just submitting some random scrappy stuff (mostly updates or colours of old lineart). I've got a sort of figurative/arabesque thing on the go, but I've also got a truckload of Uni work coming up, so don't expect to see that any time soon.

An update with two more weapons. Making these things symmetrical was a pain, especially with no. 4. Anyway, from left to right:

Glorious (AKA Hauteclaire Dyrumdali), forged by the insane swordsmith Oliver Croquemitane (otherwise known as Mad Oliver) over a period of 27 years. The blade is an ornate double-edged longsword made from meteoric iron. The solid gold hilt is a reliquary - the guard mounts a glass tear containing the blood of St. Basil, the crystal pommel contains one of St. Peter's teeth, and the leather guard is wrapped with the hairs of St. Denise and a piece of garment worn by Mary mother of Jesus. Wielded by Mirem Soromon.

Joyeuse Garde, forged by legendary swordsmith Galas Munificans over a period of 3 years. Joyeuse Garde is a massive greatsword/horse-cutting blade with a solid gold core (which makes the slipstream generated as it is swung through the air so powerful it can shatter flagstones). Its hilt contains the head of the Spear of Destiny. Wielded by Israel Charlemagne.

Kimura, forged in the Scottish School. Kimura is an ornate fencing longsword with a mottled blade and a sculpted ivory guard intended to represent a chimera, caught in a metamorphosis between bird and serpent. The blade is coated with Aucifer Dust and is wielded by Israyl Macchiata. (Note that this is a rather simplified version of my original design, which also had sculpted serpents spiraling around the blade like a caduceus - after drawing it to scale with the other swords I felt it was way too impractical and toned it down).

The Rolling Blade, a massive two-handed broadsword, tipped not with a point but with a ring of about 1.5' diameter, sharpened inside and out. This changes the weapon's profile, making it more like an axe, as well as allowing the user to decapitate his opponents by lowering the ring over their heads and thrusting. The blade derives its name from the low, menacing thrum the blade makes as it is swung, as well as its progressively curved cutting edge, which allows the blade to "roll" through flesh and bone alike. The blade is coated with Aucifer Dust and wielded by the Caliban of the Scottish School. I kind of messed up the scale on this - the handle is far too small (compare it to Glorious and Kimura, both of which are meant to be single-handed, and the similarly foreshortened handle of Joyeuse Garde, which is supposed to be hand-and-a-half).

That rolling blade seems to be of the "Awesome but Impractical" school of weaponry.
